Cerveza Muscular
Power Trio
Cerveza Muscular is a band from Minneapolis that writes and plays original material with a tiny sprinkling of covers. The lineup for the first ten years was Zack Kope; guitar and vocals, Jamey Hall; Drums and vocals, Mark Jacobs; bass and vocals. The first, eponymous album (also known as the Dinosaur Jesus album) was released in 2017. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Will Maravelas.
The second album, Rock, Paper, Finger, was released in 2019, right before the pandemic. Terry Katzman produced the first two albums with Cerveza Muscular. Will again recorded and mixed, Michael Wisti mastered the second album.
The third Cerveza Muscular album will be pressed and released in the coming months (summer 2025), featuring Zack on guitar and vocals on his songs. The title of the third album is Redacted, and features nine new Cerveza Muscular originals. Two songs were recorded and mixed by Will Maravelas, seven were recorded and mixed by Michael Wisti, who also did the master.
On March 1, 2025 Cerveza Muscular played its last show with original guitarist Zack Kope at Barely Brothers Records. Zack has chosen another route, and Jamey and I will miss collaborating with him. We are currently working with Thom Mundahl on guitar. Updates pending. Work on album #4 has already begun as well, with Thom on guitar.
